Cars-sellers put off by cost of advertisingA recent online poll of over 30,000 people has uncovered the main reasons owners are reluctant to sell their cars privately.When asked what the biggest drawback is to a private sale, 34% voted ‘spending time and money on advertising’ as their number one reason.Besides indicating a keen awareness of the hassle selling privately can involve, the results of the poll sound a wake-up call for many classified advertisers. This finding was supported by second place answer ‘waiting ages and getting no response to advertising’ which polled 22% of the votes. In third place with 20% of the vote came ’the worry of fraud or non-payment’ followed by ‘strangers coming to your home’ accounting for 12% of responders.
