A truly astonishing car that had to be detuned so it didn't embarrass the considerably more expensive, petrol powered M3.

The twin turbo, straight six, oil burner develops 286bhp but an incredible 427lb/ft which accelerates it to 62mph in just 6 seconds whilst still retaining 40+ mpg!

If any single car shows how far diesel technology has come on in recent years this is it. Test drive one immediately, I guarantee you will be very impressed.

This Lexus is a brilliant luxury car with more cutting edge gadgets than you would think possible in a car and fantastic performance to match - it will accelerate from 0 to 62mph in under six seconds - a figure quite remarkable considering the car weighs 2500kgs!

If you are looking to buy an executive luxury car I recommend you consider the Lexus LS 460 - or better still the hybrid LS 600h.

Very nice sporty little car that’s great on fuel, I must get about 60+ MPG from the little 3 cylinder engine but it will still cruise easily on the motorway.

Its also quite cheap to insure as its only a group 1A and is cheap to tax.

The interior is very nice, mine even has air conditioning!

Overall it’s a great little car that's very cheap to run. I wouldn’t part with mine for anything!

Not only does the Toyota Prius benefit by being congestion charge exempt, in a low road tax bracket and good on fuel (my average MPG was around 53mpg), it's also a fairly sporty, perhaps even luxury, family car which doubles up as an excellent weekend workhorse - Yes, you read that correctly, my own Toyota Prius has proven itself time and time again transporting all sorts back and forward across the country, whilst always returning over 50 MPG.

Forget its green credentials, its actually reasonably quick combining both a 1.5 VVT-i petrol engine and a powerful electric motor, which transfers the power to the road through a clever, computer controlled, continuously variable transmission (CVT - a system pioneered by DAF in the late 1950s!) This means that the Prius effectively doesn't ever change gears and so acceleration is very impressive and motorway driving is a doddle.

My only criticisms with the car are that the Sat Nav system occasionally loses itself (this could be an isolated problem with mine) and it sounds a bit like a hair dryer when you're accelerating hard.

However, the rest of the in car electrical equipment is excellent, especially the speaker system which is very impressive indeed.

I could go on about how impressed I am with my Toyota Prius but I think its probably best left up to you to make up your own mind – test drive one right away!

Always highly reliable, holds the road very well and has great visibility. Very comfortable to drive and roomy for all passengers. Also pretty good on the motorway.

Really good little town car, which is always fun to drive. Great cornering and braking. Always comfortable in the front, not sure about the people in the back.
